APNEEF is a non profit making organisation, legally registered under the number 3605 in the Association register of the autonomous region of the Balearic Islands, grouping together boys and girls between the ages of 0 to 18 years old who have special educational needs, with any disabilities, physical, psychological, sensory and or cognitive. Amongst our objectives are to improve the development and evolution of these children and to increase their quality of life and social integration by means of specialised programmes, psychomotor therapy, equine therapy, multi sensory stimulation, manual workshops, hydro therapy, as well as any other form of therapy that helps to stimulate and rehabilitate.

It was formed by a group of parents with one characteristic in common, to raise awareness towards the problems of this group of children with special needs and also the lack of associations dedicated to these groups of children on the islands of Ibiza and Formentera. We were the first organisation to attend to the special needs of these children between 0 to 18 years. Also being pioneers for early attention to their needs between 0 to 6 years and in creating extra curriculum school activities for these children. The members who form this association are boys and girls between the ages of 0 to 18 years with many diverse problems. We are talking about a heterogeneous group which includes boys and girls with, infantile cerebral palsy, autism, downs syndrome, Prader Willi, hydrocephalus, microcefalias, condrodisplasia punctata, Munchausen’s syndrome, trastorno generlizado de desarollo, Rubinstein Taiby, spine bifida, hipoacusia, sindrome X frágil, syndrome de Rieger, Tothmun –Thonson, sindrome de Teye, delayed speech problems, etc

These children just like any others have needs that have to be addressed in the home and in the school environment, but these children require more support for their special needs because as the name of the association suggests they are special.

With this purpose in mind this association was formed in 1998 with one objective to better the development and evolution of these children with special needs, intending with this to increase their quality of life and integration into society, opening up a path for a better way of life for the future.
